when my professor told me that my use of "syntax" is problematic, it just killed my confidence in writing. first i had to look up the word "syntax" to find out what it means, afterwards i realized she was basically saying that i don't know how to write in english. arrr.... my 16 years of education down the drain. :S

Ah...though I know the word "syntax", I still consider writing English painful. We never learned how to write English sentences properly (besides tenses...). It is always a feel of "this should be right"... I kind of wish that I learned syntactical rules and grammar properly. But compared to all the things I want to learn in the rest of my life, this is definitely not on the top of the list.

just so you know..there is currently NO focus in syntactical rules or any sort of writing skills in elementary school. Comprehension is key...but grammar? well, good luck, kids~
